Walt Disney Company has elevated Thomas Mazloum, the president of Disneyland Resort, to chair of its parks group, the company announced on Tuesday, handing him command of one of the entertainment conglomerate's most strategically important divisions.
In his new role, Mazloum will oversee Disney's broad portfolio of theme parks, cruise ships, resort hotels and consumer products, according to the company. The appointment represents a substantial expansion of his brief, moving him from oversight of the flagship Disneyland Resort in California to stewardship of the entire parks and experiences business.
The parks division is among Disney's most significant revenue contributors and has been a central pillar of the company's broader growth strategy in recent years. The unit encompasses a global network of destinations as well as its expanding cruise line and consumer products arm.
