Anthropic fielding VC investment offers at up to $800bn valuation
Venture capital firms are offering to invest in Anthropic at valuations of up to $800 billion, Business Insider reported, citing what it described as a flood of inbound interest directed at the San Francisco-based AI company.
The reported figure is striking in its scale. Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI research executive Dario Amodei and his sister Daniela Amodei, last raised capital at a $61.5 billion post-money valuation in a March 2025 round led by Google. An $800 billion figure would represent a roughly thirteenfold increase in roughly a year.
No transaction has been announced. It is not clear whether Anthropic is actively seeking new capital or engaging with the offers, and the company has not issued a public statement. The reports from Business Insider, Bloomberg, and Reuters are each attributed to secondary sourcing rather than direct company disclosure.
Tokenized shares of Anthropic trading on the Solana-based exchange Jupiter have implied a valuation closer to $850 billion, according to Bitget, though tokenized secondary markets for private companies frequently carry significant pricing distortions and limited liquidity.
The reported investor enthusiasm reflects broader competition for exposure to frontier AI developers at a moment when the commercial prospects of large language models are drawing sustained institutional attention. Anthropic's Claude models compete directly with OpenAI's GPT series and Google's Gemini.
